Bouwplast clerestory window for Beter Leven
An existing poultry barn in Dronten has undergone an ‘upgrade’. With the help of Bouwplast plastic window frames, good daylight has been introduced into the barn, meeting the requirements for 1 star Beter Leven.
Frames placed in sandwich walls
Before the renovation, the outer walls of the barn were finished with solid sandwich panels, and the lighting in the barn was mainly artificial. The new plastic window frames have been directly installed in the sandwich walls. First, holes were sawed out and then framed with metal work. To place the windows at the correct height, the dam wall was lowered by 15 centimeters.
Natural daylight and diffused glass
The Bouwplast plastic window frames have been placed in the side walls of the barn, allowing daylight to be evenly distributed throughout the barn. The windows are equipped with diffused glass, which breaks and disperses the incoming light. This prevents light spots, allowing poultry to benefit from daylight throughout the barn. The natural day and night rhythm created in this way is an important requirement for a Beter Leven certification.
