New pig barn with sloping well plate

In the construction of a pig barn in Groenlo, Gelderland, our product range was fully utilized. Bouwimpex supplied, among other things, Bouwplast panels for the realization of sloping pit plates and the division walls, ASW PIR-FR insulation, and plastic windows and doors.

Sloping pit plates reduce ammonia emissions

Reducing ammonia emissions is an important topic in pig farming. A relatively simple way to decrease the release of ammonia into the air is to apply sloping pit plates. A sloping pit plate reduces the manure surface, which means less ammonia is absorbed into the air. This is better for the environment, but also for humans and animals: improved air quality creates a pleasant (work) environment.

In the barn in Groenlo, sloping pit plates were realized using gray Bouwplast-plus panels and stainless steel fastening materials. Bouwplast-plus panels are highly resistant to ammonia, making them very suitable for use as pit plates.

Fire safety in the barn

Fire safety received significant attention in the barn layout. The barn was insulated using ASW PIR FR insulation panels, which are made of fire-retardant PIR rigid foam. For the division walls and pen layout, white Bouwplast-plus FR panels were used, which also have fire-retardant properties.

Plastic windows and doors

Light in the barn comes in through the light strips of fixed Bouwplast Easy windows, which are alternated with one casement window per light strip. This ensures there is always sufficient daylight in the barn. The casement window can be used as emergency ventilation and as an escape route in case of fire. Finally, Bouwimpex supplied Agraplast doors in Groenlo.
