Clerestory window with LuxAir in pig housing

When building modern pigsties, daylight provision and air supply are important principles to meet animal welfare standards. In a large pigsty in Beckum, Germany, Bouwimpex installed innovative light tunnels with integrated intake valves. This was custom work: the LuxAir system was executed with SKOV A/S intake valves that the client had already purchased.

LuxAir is a daylight and air intake system, where a Bouwplast window frame is combined with an aerodynamic air intake valve. For this project, the dimensions of the Bouwplast frames were aligned with the SKOV A/S intake valves. By determining the good distribution of the intake valves in advance and then adjusting the size of the glass areas accordingly, a beautiful and symmetrical appearance is created.

The light tunnels are connected by custom insulation strips and PVC strips. These finishing strips are placed behind the steel trusses, making the light tunnels visually form one whole. And not just that: the thermal bridge is also minimized by the coupling.

Bouwimpex was also allowed to supply Agraplast exterior doors for this project. These robust doors are made of moisture-resistant, insulating plastic with UV-resistant finishing. The door leaf is equipped with a stainless steel frame, and the doors are supplied with a stainless steel frame and handles. Just like Bouwplast plastic frames, Agraplast exterior doors are low-maintenance and corrosion-resistant. This makes them ideal for agricultural construction.
