Diffuse HR+++ glass in a poultry house

Two years ago, poultry company Van Doorn from Heeswijk Dinther built a new barn with Bouwplast plastic windows in a special design. This proved to be successful: during the recent construction of a second barn, the poultry farmer chose the barn windows from Bouwimpex again.

Light-transmitting roofs from Bouwplast frames are suitable for various applications. In the poultry sector, the windows are often made with diffuse HR++(+) glass. This is also the case in the new barn in Heeswijk Dinther. Diffuse glass breaks up the incoming sunlight, allowing it to be better distributed throughout the barn. For the chickens, this is beneficial: daylight stimulates natural behavior, and the chickens do not experience stress from light spots and flickering.

In addition to providing good daylight, the plastic frames contribute to a good indoor climate in the barn. HR+++ glass (or ‘triple glass’) has an excellent insulation value. This means that temperature fluctuations outside have less impact on the temperature inside the barn, which benefits the growth and health of the poultry.
